Serdar Uckun, MD, PhD

CEO and Principal

Dr. Uckun is CEO and Principal of Telact, LLC, a technology consulting firm. Prior to Telact, he was Founder and CEO of CyDesign Labs, a model-based design optimization company that was acquired by ESI Group SA. Earlier, he was a Principal Scientist at Palo Alto Research Center (PARC), and a Branch Chief at NASA Ames where he led the largest organization in the government focusing on prognostics and health management (PHM) research. He also served as Director of the Research Institute for Advanced Computer Science (RIACS), Director of Advanced Technology at Blue Pumpkin Software, and Assistant Director of Rockwell Science Center – Palo Alto Laboratory.  He has graduate degrees in Medicine (Ege University) and Biomedical Engineering (Bogazici and Vanderbilt Universities), and post-doctoral training in Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence (Stanford University). He has served as Associate Editor of the Artificial Intelligence in Medicine Journal and the General Chair of the 2008 International Conference on PHM. He is  founder and past President of the PHM Society, a non-profit professional organization. He holds over twenty-five U.S. patents. 

Dr. Uckun is a private pilot with over 1,100 hours of flight time. He holds Single Engine Land, Single Engine Sea, Glider, and instrument ratings.
